The four wings of the castle courtyard (Medieval Flamboyant Gothic Renaissance and Classical) showcase the variety of architectural styles at the time. Restored during the 19th Century you'll be surprised by the variety of colors of châteaux during the French Renaissance.
Then it’s time to drive to Cheverny where you’ll have an opportunity to taste seven different exquisite wines indigenous to the region.
The “Cheverny” appellation signals an elegant wine be it a Pinot Noir or Gamay or fruity white wines like Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. You'll especially enjoy the “Cour Cheverny Appellation” a stunning white produced from the Romorantin grape which was first brought to the area by King François 1st.
You’ll be treated to a fresh authentic lunch at a local restaurant while sampling the wines you discovered in your tasting. An array of cheeses charcuterie salad and dessert will complement your meal.
Following lunch you’ll join a guided tour of the Château of Cheverny which has been owned by the same family since the 13th Century and features some of the most beautiful furniture in the Loire Valley. The château also inspired Moulinsart of the famous comic book Tintin.
You will continue on to the Estate of Chambord a national game reserve as large as the city of Paris. The Château de Chambord (guided tour) is a unique monument famous for its architecture and impressive size. It is speculated that da Vinci was partially responsible for the design of this massive monument. With more than 400 rooms and its beautiful double spiral staircase Chambord is a true highlight of the Loire Valley.
