The day begins with a guided tour of the Château of Azay le Rideau one of the purest examples of Renaissance architecture in the Loire Valley. Financer Gilles Berthelot’s Château delicately placed on an island on the Indre River still shines today thanks to the lightness and balance of its mullioned pepper pots dormers and above all its graceful staircase. You’ll have a chance to admire the Château at every angle with a stroll around the English-style garden a jewel case of greenery considered one of the most beautiful stone diamonds in Touraine.

Enjoy a wine tasting at a vineyard in Chinon or Bourgueil followed by lunch at a local domain or a traditional restaurant (AOC Chinon or Bourgueil).
Guided Tour of Chinon:
Chinon is hailed as one of the most picturesque towns in the Loire Valley. With charming medieval streets and buildings Chinon is something of an outdoor museum. Your guide will take you distinct quarters of the town where you will witness phenomenal views of the Castle. He will also show you the townhouses of the wealthy financiers and ministers who served the King.
While in Chinon you’ll stand where in 1429 Joan of Arc stepped down from her horse to meet King Charles VII and learn about its famous resident François Rabelais the greatest ambassador of Chinon wines and proponent of “joie de vivre.”
Your guided tour will also include a visit to one of the most spectacular gardens of Touraine – Villandry. Known for its diversity and originality (Love Garden Kitchen Garden Aromatic and Medicine Plant Garden Water Garden and the brand new Sun Garden) and by its size (its 15 acres are home to 1150 linden trees) Villandry is simply not to be missed.
At 6:30 p.m. your guide will drive you back to Tours or Amboise Tourist Office.
