Chartres Cathedral was partly built starting in 1145 and then reconstructed over a 26-year period after the fire of 1194. It marks the high point of French Gothic art. The vast nave in pure ogival style and the porches adorned with fine sculptures from the middle of the 12th century, the magnificent 12th- and 13th-century stained-glass windows, all in remarkable condition, combine to make it a masterpiece.
Then onto the “ International Centre of the Stained Glass”. This museum raises the history of the stained glass from the Middle Age to nowadays and immerses you in the universe of the glassworkers. They will introduce you to their techniques by presenting their tools and by exposing ancient and contemporary stained glasses.

Charles X abdicated here; Napoleon spent his last night here before his exile to St. Helena; De Gaulle from here gave General Leclerc the final orders for the liberation of Paris in 1944; the first G6 economic summit was held here in 1975. The 1999 Kosovo peace conference was held here and it has been used to entertain such world leaders as Nikita Kruchev, Boris Yeltsin, Nelson Mandela, Dwight Eisenhower and Jimmy Carter . It was also a hunting lodge from the time of Louis XVI. A medieval tower is all that remains of the 1375 building and is where Francois 1st purportedly died. The old walls here are 4 meters thick!

On the way to Malmaison, your guide will retrace the history of Napoleon and Josephine before you begin a guided visit of the “Château de la Malmaison”. The Château of Malmaison was home to Josephine and Bonaparte . From 1801 to 1802, together with the Tuileries, it was France's seat of government. In its rooms the most important policy decisions were taken: Civil Code, Legion of Honor and more. The original country house was altered by the architects Percier and Fontaine to become the present château, which is a unique example of architecture at the time of the Consulate. The great fascination of the museum lies in the sense of atmosphere and authenticity that it retains.
On the return journey to Paris, you’ll make a stop at Saint-Germain-en-Laye (one of Ile-de-france's nine royal cities ) to admire its Castle. Built on the foundations of a feudal fort on the initiative of François I, it was greatly appreciated by Louis XIV, who had attached to it a series of gardens and a vast terrace by Le Nôtre. Napoleon installed there a Cavalry school. Free time to admire Paris from the terrace . Lunch (drinks included) will be taken in Paris in a restaurant located near the Arch of Triumph on the Champs-Elysées .
After lunch, you will visit the Arch of Triumph, commissioned by Napoleon in 1806 to commemorate his victories. But he was ousted before the arch was completed. The Arch of Triumph is engraved with names of generals who commanded French troops during Napoleon's regime. It is also adorned with many reliefs, most of them commemorating previous battles. At the top of the arch are 30 shields, each of them bears the name of one of Napoleon's successful battles. The arch features an observatory from where you have great views of La Défense, the Champs-Elysées and the Sacré-Cœur.
In the middle of the afternoon, you will visit the Dôme des Invalides, a part of the complex known as the Hôtel des Invalides, which was founded in 1671 by Louis XIV, the Sun King. The church is connected directly with the Royal chapel. Plans to bury the remains of the Royal Family were set aside after the death of king Louis XIV, and in 1840 Louis-Philippe repatriated the remains of the Emperor Napoleon from st. Helena, where he was buried after his death 19 years earlier. The cupola of the church shelters since 1861 the crypt of the tomb of the emperor Napoleon I, who rests in six successive coffins inside a red porphyry sarcophagus.
With the same ticket, you will have access The Musée de l'Armée, which is a large military museum located on both sides of the Honour square. It covers military history (weapons, uniforms, maps and banners ) from the Stone Age to the second World War, naturally including the Napoleon’s wars.

The situation of their stronghold, at the border between the principality of the duke of Normandy and the grounds of king de France, enabled them to exploit a long time the competitions between these two powerful lords to guarantee their independence. Guy de La Roche ends up definitively joining the party of Philippe Auguste about 1200.

Chef Myriam welcomes you in the intimate, elegant and comfortable atmosphere of her apartment, located on the ground floor of a historic Haussmannian apartment at a few steps from the Opéra and the large department stores. You will appreciate to relax in her patio garden or sit by the fire.
The class is taught in English or French - it can be both, according to the guests spoken languages.
You will be given a place around the large kitchen table, with an apron and all the necessary cooking utensils and ingredients.
Then the steps are given and the work is shared. In 2 hours 15, under Myriam s careful eye, all the participants contribute to the preparation of the whole meal : entree, main dish and dessert.
Then the tasting takes place in a cheerful atmosphere in the provençal dining-room opening on the private garden. A glass of wine is offered, as well as a coffee or tea.
Everyone will leave with a copy of the recipe, and the memorable souvenir of a half-day full of talents and sharing.
